Growing up in Indiana most of my life, I was lead to find many pastimes which helped me to find the field that I'm extremly passionate about today! I picked up photography and graphic design through my work in high school which lead me to work in some incredible social media marketing internships during my senior year. I was able to work on numerous social media accounts for the Indiana Parkinsons Foundation and for Allison B salon where I was given hands on brand building experience.
Coming to college, I knew I wanted to stay close to home and study marketing which lead me to decided on Indiana University as a direct admit to the Kelley School of Business as a marketing major. My freshman year, I was lucky enough to work as a social media intern for Indiana Athletics where I was given numerous opportunities to promote the countless Indiana University sports through the use of social media platforms, focusing mainly on Instagram.
My sophomore year of college, I decided that I wanted to focus more on the creative approach so I made the decision to switch over to the Media School to study media advertising. As a junior I took numerous classes that gave me the hands on experiences that showed me that social media marketing was the right career path for my interests. As a junior, I held positions as a student photographer for the Indiana Daily Student and photographer and social media specialist for the IU Media School communications team.
With my passion for photography, I decided to start my own photography business, Michelle Renee Photography, where I focus on portraits, concerts and event photographs. I have always loved live music and attending concerts so with that in mind, I reached out to numerous venues and artists around Bloomington offering my photography services which was met with a great response. From this, I was given so many incredible opportunities to take photos of artists and events including Hoosier County Jam, countless shows at Bluebird and becoming Hank Ruff's tour photographer and social media coordinator attending events including the Harley Davidson Music Festival and numerous shows across Indiana.
Currently as a senior, I have continued to grow my skills with a focus on music marketing by working as an in-house marketing representative and house photographer for Live Nation at Old National Centre and becoming a contributing photographer and multimedia specialist for Future Gold Media.
With these experiences and my classes at IU, I've decided to focus on live event marketing where I hope to one day work in the field and gain experience advertising for an artist or venue!
